Hey, this is 13:20. I lost one at 17 weeks a year and a half ago. Coping with the nerves has been a huge challenge. I'm getting ultrasounds every two weeks to watch my cervix to see if i need a cerclage. Hang in there and know you're not alone. FWIW, there's a private board on babycenter for august moms who have lost previous pregnancies. I've found it to be MUCH better than the public boards. People are calm, supportive and really understand the anxiety.

Why would you hold a boy back but not a girl?

Both my brother and I are both late October babies (10 years apart) and we both initially started K at 4 years old. It worked out for me, but my parents decided to hold my brother back and repeat 2nd grade because he just seemed more immature than the rest of the kids in his class. He also had some behavioral issues and my parents weren't sure if age had to do anything with it. It wasn't traumatic for him to repeat 2nd grade because we moved out of state at the time and he started a new school, so it all worked out. Every child and every situation is different - this is just what happened with us. We both turned out fine

I'm not due in August but wanted to chime in: it's fairly common to hold back boys with late birthdays, mostly since they're often a bit slower to develop (especially socially) than girls. My birthday is in November, and when my mom asked our pediatrician about holding me back he said, eh, if she was a boy I probably would, but since she's a girl go ahead and enroll her. Not unusual at all to think about these things.

If you have different due dates based on dating and based on an ultrasound, which do you use? I was going by August 18 until my 13 week scan and then they changed it to August 21. For some reason I can't really shift gears in my head and still calculate everything by the original August 18 due date.

I'm due Aug 22 with #2. DS is almost 2, and we found out the sex with him and will find out again this time. I have felt occasional movement. I am showing and have gained about 6 pounds, but am still managing to hide it from friends and co-workers.

I haven't done facebook yet. All my friends, family, and work know, but I felt unsure on the whole facebook thing. I think we will do it, but perhaps more around 18-20 weeks or so.

I'm due August 18 with my second. I'm showing but can still hide it when needed (I haven't told everyone at work yet). I'm feeling some movement but not the strong kicks yet. Can't wait for that. Have an ultrasound this week and hope to find out the gender. My first is a boy and I'm really hoping for a girl. I get why people don't find out, but I'm not patient enough for that. Plus, honestly, I don't want to be disappointed at the birth if it's not a girl. If I find out in advance I'll have plenty of time to process so I can be fully excited by the time the little guy gets here.

Have you all announced your pregnancy on Facebook yet? I haven't, and kind of don't want to, but it's kind of getting strange like I'm actively avoiding posting what's going on in my life.

Are you pregnant with just one? A friend lost two sets of twins but after a cerclage plus bed rest carried a baby healthily to term. Hoping for the same for you!

I"m due with my first on 8/3, but this is my 4th pregnancy, so we're still pretty cautiously optimistic. I"m really showing, so there's no hiding her anymore. I'm not feeling much, if any, movement yet, but I have an anterior placenta so I guess that's pretty typical. I really wish I felt her more, just for the peace of mind.

Hi there! I'm due August 31 with my first, too! We plan on finding out the sex, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I don't think it is at all strange to not find out, a good friend of mine chose not to, I just don't have that willpower! Are you showing yet? I don't have a bump at this point but am definitely bigger.

I too am jealous of the October thread. I honestly thought it would tank into negativity like a lot of threads here, but I have been seeing more warm and positive posts lately.

So here goes. I'm due with my first kid August 7. Excited, mostly, and more nervous about the next 18 years after the birth than the birth itself. We're also moving at the end of this month from Columbia Heights to Silver Spring, so that's another big change. Lots of changes!

We're not finding out the sex, is that weird? Nobody's reacted badly to it, and I really don't get why you can't buy blue stuff for girls. I love blue more than pink by far.

It's weird being at the "feeling movement" stage of things. I feel it all the time now, so much so that I get nervous if a day goes by when I don't, even though I'm told this is normal.
