Bionaturae wholewheat pasta at WF is hands down the best whole wheat pasta. You can't find Barilla Plus at WF.

exactly. "whole wheat" is a marketing campaign. don't buy what they are selling you.

I cannot stand whole wheat pasta. If I decide to eat pasta, I'm having the real deal. WW is not really healthier --your body reacts the same to WW and white flour, really. Read Why We Get Fat.

Just beware that Barilla is one of the faux products. It only has 51% whole grain wheat. While some of the remainder is legume powders and such, it still has a lot of regular flour that adds empty carbs to the diet and doesn't have as much fiber or as much protein. It's okay as a halfway if you have an issue with real whole grain pasta (for some the texture is a problem), but it's not the healthiest. Regular 100% whole grain pasta is healthier. In general, there many good options out there. Whole grain spelt pasta is highest in protein and fiber. Quinoa pasta is high in protein and iron and has a low glycemic index for better digestion (you'll stay feeling full longer so tends to help cut down on snacking). These or regular 100% whole wheat pasta are generally amongst the healthiest alternatives.

I think you are talking about the Barilla Whole Grain. Agree that it should actually be whole grain. But the PP was talking about Barilla Plus which doesnt claim to be whole grain, it looks and tastes like white to me. Their thing is that it has added protein, thats what the "plus" is for.

I have good luck with this brand too.

I think it really depends on the brand--some whole wheat pastas and pastas not made from wheat can come out rubbery or mushy. So healthy + tastes good. I curious as to what recommendations others have.

I'm not sure if it's the healthiest pasta but I love Whole Foods' spinach spaghetti. I cooked it last night with garlic in olive oil, broccoli, chili flakes and percorino. Yum!

whole wheat? Or quinoa pasta? Or something else? Need to be able to get it at whole foods.
