I'm 28 weeks and the spidey senses are still going strong. Try a dab of peppermint or vanilla (lemon?) extract (or essential oils, but be careful on your skin) on the edge of your palm- not quite on your wrist, but close so when you need to, you can put your chin in your hand and smell something better than X funk surrounding you.

OP I had an incredible sense of smell and EVERYTHING bothered me. I could not go in our garage for MONTHS and if someone opened the door to the garage I could smell it on the 3rd floor. I could not stand the smell of my husband's deodorant and could smell it lingering HOURS after he left for work. I could smell EVERYTHING!!! can't stand the smell of perfume and I had to buy all fragrance free shampoos and soaps!

My heightened sense of smell lessened but unfortunately it never really went away totally. After 2 kids, I am still super sensitive to smells but it's not as bad. I never found a solution although my husband knows to try to keep things smell free.

I just stopped at whole foods and had to leave because it smelled so bad in there...like raw meat. (I know).

I'm about 13 weeks.

<--- I'm mouth breathing because I'm stuffed up. I thought it was a cold, but apparently stuffed up head/sneezing during pregnancy is a thing? If I have this for the whole 9 months, I'll be sad since I can't taste anything Though, maybe a mixed blessing? lol

If you have smell issues, one thing you might want to try also is a cup of decaf mint tea - even if just to smell it. The heat keeps it smelling good for a while. I often have some at work just to get the "funk" out of the windowless fort I'm in. It smells great. Lemon in hot water is great, too.

I have resorted to mouth breathing to avoid getting completely grossed out by everything.

I'm very early on but super-smell has already kicked in. I can smell EVERYTHING. and everything makes me sick... lemon is a good idea.

I already have a great sense of smell (just like my mom) and I can smell things like the white board markets DAYS after they've been used - and we had a meeting with them this morning and eewww.
Nothing really makes me gag, though, except for my coworker's microwaved lunches or when they eat fried chicken - some of them had Popeyes the other day and I was so grossed out. People's parfume makes me gag, so I guess there's that too - but it always has, just now it's worse. I wonder if they realize how much they're wearing sometimes!

Yes, this was me. Not everything (but a lot!) made me gag but I noticed *everything*. I am at 23 weeks now, and the sense of smell is still very strong, though very little makes me sick at this point.

Peppermint candies are also good--those red-and-white ones. The smell fills your nose. I remember being able to smell people's laundry detergent on the Metro--it was really intense.

It never lasted into the second trimester for me but I recall well being shocked at how strongly shower water smelled like chlorine.

I'm sorry! Can you carry a cinnamon stick or ginger with you to sniff?

I'm well into my second trimester and my sense of smell is starting to make life somewhat difficult. I pick up on EVERYTHING, even things I didn't realize had a smell like the television or the hallway or the freezer. There are very few things that make me gag at this point, such as fresh lemon, but other than tying a lemon to my nose, I don't know what else to do.
