By outstanding I mean scoring a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SATs as a 12 yr old. That is outstanding. My brother skipped high school and went to Hopkins b/c he was "outstanding" in math. The other alternative was Exeter. So we'll see if jr is as good, otherwise he'll go to a private school for "good" math students. Nothing wrong with that either.
Tune in this weekend to College Confidential Prep School and you'll see numbers of 99th percentile kids who were not accepted to Exeter and Andover when the acceptances/denials are received this weekend.
Perfect scores are no guarantee of acceptance. These kids are amongst the best and brightest in the country. While Jr may excel in math, the schools want well-rounded individuals and that includes the Phillips.
