Dollar store toys so can have a different one every 15 minutes! That and a portable DVD player with headphones and DVD books.

Magnet books (the kind with magnetic characters and pages) are pretty good for travel. 2.5 hours isn't very long. But otherwise, honestly, nothing beats some PBS Kids downloads and an iPhone.

We always did that. Also, a new electric toothbrush is a great source of entertainment for a while. One of those sticker books with stickers that can be peeled off and reapplied. Small books to read. Crayons and paper. Food (depending on how long your flight is) - stuff like raisins, cheerios, etc.

Painters' tape - let them tape up everything in sight and it pulls right off without damage.

Not sure if this was mentioned on the other thread, but by far the best thing I have brought on an airplane for my kids has been this: Get a plastic container (like a big yogurt container that has been cleaned out) and cut a little hole in the lid. Then get those little colored puff balls and have them put each puff ball in the cup through the little hole in the lid. I know it sounds ridiculous, but my kids LOVE this. My 2 almost 3 year old still likes to do this on airplanes. Have no idea why, but I'm not one to question things that keep them having fun and in their seats.

Stickers! I bought the one dollar sticker books from Target and they lasted 3 hrs of a 7 hr international flight. They peel off easy. So I was able to clean them up quick when the plane was descending.

We're looking for ways to keep DS (almost 2 yo) calm and happy during a 2.5 hour flight. No iPad/iPhone/DVD player. What else works for you?
