I second the St. Anselms and St. Andrews votes

St Anselm's will find room for him if he's a good fit for the school (academically mostly plus not a behavior issue).

Try St. Andrews -- good school but rumblings that they are working on enrollment issues. Try Bullis too; if your son is a strong student (as it sounds like he may be) they might be open to accepting a late application.

All if the well-known Catholic high schools just completed admissions and have wait lists. I know SJC accepted over their goal if 275 and still has a deep wait list. I wouldn't have any faith in a spot there. You will have to look to the less popular schools now or start public and transfer.

I have an 8th grader too. We applied to a lot of schools though. Our backup plan if nothing worked out was moving to MD (renting a house) which seems extreme I know.

SJC is a great up and coming school. Call them and see what's possible. They have a scholar program and give out ipads as part of it. If your son is a good student and also a good athlete, I'd be surprised if they wouldn't consider him. Because its a bigger school they may have more flexibility with late application although they got a ton of applicants. Saint Anselms is better choice academically but not known for sports although it has a nice gym and field. These are catholic schools so not right for everyone.
