China is mainly a program of special needs children at this point. The wait for a non-special needs child has become five years and more. This is a good resource:

You should really check the DoS website. They reopened in May and then closed again in August. DoS keeps the website current.

This is OP. They reopened them recently, that is why I am asking. PP did you have to there for 30 day bonding period? What agency did you use?

As of August 21, 2012 adoptions were suspended per the DoS website. Also, according to the website, there were no immigrant visas issued for adoptions from Kaz during the year 2012.

For China, the agency will provide you a checklist of all the documents. Birth certificates, marriage certificates are just the tip of the iceberg. You also need various documents for the homestudy that needs to be completed.

Can anyone who has been through the process for China or Kazakhstan tell me what documents are required--- medical records, birth certificates, tax returns? anything else?
