Since the days where we had school unless there were 4 inches on the ground are over and since the present world is permeated with frivolous lawsuits whenever a natural accident happens....

Plan for school to be closed and arrange your backup!

MCPS typically waits to see what falls, so I'd be surprised if they announced before Wednesday a.m. that they were going to be closed.

Plus they have closing days left to use and it is getting late in the season, so I'd guess they'll close if flakes fall (and stick). I heard that the weathermen don't think it is going to stick to the roads because it has been too warm.

Seems almost a given at this point they will close. Most forecasts I see for MoCo say at least 5 inches.

It's supposed to start late Tuesday night, so schools will be closed on Wednesday (unless the forecast falls apart and turns to an all-rain event).

They are predicting a lot of snow. Definitely plan for backup. If even one bus gets stuck, or one highschooler injures himself driving home, there will be an uproar and lawsuits. The schools have to protect the kids, even if it seems like sn exaggerated response to the rest of us, So, there is an excellent chance that schools will be closed.

If you have to be at work, you should definitely arrange a back-up given the history of per-emptive cancellations for non-events.

I've got one kid in MCPS, one kid in a DC daycare that follows DCPS closures, and a DC-based job that closes when the feds do. My husband out of town and I have no local family. I'm wondering if I should preemptively arrange a backup babysitter for Wednesday (I have meetings that I can't miss unless my office actually closes.) Last time snow was threatened, MCPS sent the kids home early even before a single flake had fallen. Am I paranoid to presume that might happen again? Any predictions and/or advice?
