Please consider that tuition insurance isn't really "tuition insurance." It's loss-of-tuition-value insurance. Typically you have to actually enroll, and withdraw involuntarily OTHER than via expulsion or asked-to-leave. If you cannot make payments for a stated cause, that may be covered. If you change your mind, or are badly-treated, or move, or otherwise choose to leave, there may well be no coverage at all.

Thanks for info. I haven't received my packets yet, just admission call and email so I was just curious what the insurance was about. Been new to this process this year and despite all of the, um, interesting, back-and-forth, chats have been helpful!

There is a pamphlet about it in your admissions packet ( or should be). It cost $200/year and covers you in event child suffers catastrophic injury/illness , death of primary bread winner in family and the like. It does not cover loss of job, transfer to another city, or you got off WL at another school after June 1st.

Actually pp I think it does cover most of those things. Usually you have to have attended the school for 2 weeks. A girl at my DCs school had to attend for 2 weeks before going to public school because of a parent job loss. Luckily because of a later start in the public school she only missed a week of the public school. Another kid whose family left the area unexpectedly came back for the first 2 weeks of school.

OP just read the little pamphlet. It should explain it.

like any other insurance. covers some unforeseen events. do you not get the fine print with your contract, explaining what it does/not cover?
