Definitely test for mono. There can be an issue if the liver or spleen become enlarged.

Op here. She woke up for an hour and ate around 7 tonight. She is the youngest of 3 so her extra sleep requirements stand out, but, at this point in time, I'm inclined to agree w pp's and feel that this is prob normal- esp on a weekend.
Thx again all!

There's something going around that causes fatigue. I needed a 2 hour nap today, and I never nap.

12 hrs a night isn't that much for a growing preteen. My 11 yr old can sleep 12 hrs a night especially after hectic days.

Test for mono. Won't be able to do anything for it but at least you would have an explanation of why she is so tired/sleepy.

Any other illness signs? My son and I had a virus recently -- light cold symptoms and crushing exhaustion. I didn't think I could make it through the day for almost a week.

K, thx. I just hate going for nothing- but better safe than sick I suppose.

My rule if thumb is that if you find yourself asking if you should go to a doctor, it means you should go to a doctor. Or as one of my doctors once said, "you report, we decide."

For the past 3 days or so this has been occuring. Otherwise behavior and eating basicAlly normal. Is this a growth spirt or reason to make apt w doc.
