I think you need to go try on. Try Nordstrom Rack, Gap/Gap Outlet, Banana, and Express.
Some people have had luck at Ann Taylor and AT Loft.

Subject: Where should I shop for jeans?
I'm 25, had a baby at the end of October, and am finally un-sleep-deprived enough to realize I look a mess. I fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans about 10 weeks postpartum and promptly ripped them so I've been wearing my pre-pregnancy "fat jeans" since. (Yes, I only had one pair of jeans.) I was wearing Gap "curvy" in a size 4, pretty much the only style that I'd found that looked good with my butt/hips, but I ordered some more online and couldn't get them on at all. (Fat jeans are the same thing but in a 6.)
So, where should I look for jeans? What kind of style? Skinny jeans make me look like a lollipop.
