You are correct that cats need extra moisture for optimal health.
A less expensive way to do this than organic wet food (which I feed too) is organic meat -- straight up.
Ie, mince a chicken breast in the blender and put it on a plate. Or a blob of beef.
Yes, that's not cheap either but it's less than canned cat food if you buy what's on sale. I get organic chicken at Costco)
You will need a vitamin or some dry to supplement the micronutrients, of course.
