If you care about test scores, pick Tubman. They're still below the state average (ugh) but significantly better than Cooke.

Tubman. Test scores show that this school is improving its scores through hard work over a period of years. It needs one good cohort of UMC parents to sign on board and it will be unstoppable. Arguably already the best school in Ward 1.

Tubman is better in my opinion - better scores, strong principal, enthusiastic energy in the classroom. Having visited both (and being IB for cooke) I would choose tubman over cooke. That said, cooke is more "diverse" (tubman is less than 1% white), so that depends on your personal preference in that regard.

Is Garrison one of your choices? Not sure where you are located, but I would put that down as well if it is convenient to you.

We've got our first 5 choices, and we're trying to decide on our 6th spot for PS. Both Cooke and Tubman would be a difficult commute for us, but not completely unreasonable. Looking at the numbers, it looks like we'd have a better shot at getting into Tubman, but from previous posts, it seems like Cooke might be a better school. Should we take the risk and put Cooke or is that a waste of a spot on our list and we should just go with Tubman?
