As for paying, it will eventually have to be found somewhere. Fairfax can't increase class sizes anymore as they are up against the state maxes as it is. Property tax is currently the only way, unless the State Legislature has a change of heart and will let Fairfax County become a City or they take away the Dillon Rule. The State funding formula will never change as those counties and cities that benefit have a super majority in the the Legislature.

The savings for both Lewinsville and Dunn Loring is that the County already owns the property. I would expect a renovation would cost the same as a new school at both sites.

I have posted this before. I only know about the ones near Tyson's.

1) Force the Board of Supervisors to find another site for their daycare currently at Lemon Road. (Pimmit HS site might be an alternative) That would give you 6 more classrooms.
2) Kick out the current tenants at the old Lewinsville school on Great Falls BEFORE they make the renovations. The senior center can also move to the Pimmit Hills Site and perhaps a second location at the MCC. Coordinate with MCC before they make their next renovation.
3) Move the current offices at the old Dunn Loring School and renovate.

Then- Lemon Road can expand its district and absorb some of the over crowded Haycock District. Dunn Loring can absorb some of Freedom Hills over crowding. Lewinsville can take some of Kent Gardens, which in turn can take more of Haycock. Any extra at all three can be saved for the Tyson's growth.

Can you tell me more about Mosby Woods. What is it you like so much about the school. What is the culture like there? Is it diverse? Do they believe in alot of differentiation. Whatever your thoughts are please elaborate. I'd like to hear more.

We are in Vienna and go to mosby woods for aap center and base school. We are really happy with the school!

Or Create more schools!!!!! There are structures that Fairfax county owns that are not being fully utilized and could be updated to create more schools. Right now they are wasted space.

FCPS has numerous properties which aren't being fully used.

I'm not sure slightly lowering the class size back to where it was several years ago will have that much of an impact on rooms. Yes, they do need a long term strategy on rooms, but not for lowering the class size by 1 student.

Some schools do a combined 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 class to make the numbers work out better. Not sure if this is a plus to the students or not.

Where are you to begin with? Marshall Road? Wolftrap? Freedom Hill? Flint Hill? It's hard to guess. And why do you think any of these other schools will be different? Average home price in Vienna is something like $700,000. If your school has LLIV, why would the children need to be in two different places? All I can suggest is that you advocate for smaller class sizes. Not enough parents seem to be doing this.

All AAP centers are good of course! they are all currently overcrowded, so it's hard to say what's going to happen in the next couple of years with these Centers. It's been my observation that there are more schools implementing LLVI, I know our base school did.

We are in the position to move. Our ES has level IV but is over the top class sizes plus the new level IV means like 38 kids get pulled out for advanced math etc. DD has great grades K and 1 and did very well to qualify for the pool at least with NNAT2- we also have a younger DD who we are not sure since older DD has always stood out. I don't want kids in two places (if that happens) plus aftercare will be important when I go back to work. We live in Vienna- love living here but we can move somewhere else though ideally in Vienna with SACC, AAP center etc. DH may be working in DC soon so I guess we could consider moving out of here. Any input of AAp center schools? Thanks..
