+1. This sounds like, "what happened, my school administration doesn't suck up to me any more."

My kids in private elementary school also had great and terrible teachers. It happens everywhere. Who knows, if you had stayed at your vaunted private you might have gotten the difficult teacher this year, and then you'd be venting on that board. Uneven teachers and classes come with the territory, in both public and private.

I moved my kid from a Big Three to a middle school magnet and wow, what a difference - the magnet was vastly better education-wise. She is now in a HS magnet and doing great - and we have funds to spare for things other than school.

I sort of understand what you are saying. My kid is also at a highly touted MCPS ES. Personally I would say it is "OK". Nothing there has particularly impressed me but nothing is terrible either.

OP here. No I am not a troll and yes, I did realize that I spelled "their" incorrectly. I am clearly upset and did not bother to re-read my message before I pressed send. I guess I am just venting and preaching to choir. I know most people have to deal with a lot worse than I do.

My child did attend a top tier private school. I honestly didn't realize what I had until it was gone

Did you ever visit the school beforehand? A lot of what you describe could have been observed before you made this decision. Not 2.0, though, I'll give you that.

We gave up our child's seat at the most prestigious private school in DC and moved to an elementary school in the Whitman cluster to save money and live in a bigger place.
We thought we were making such a smart move since we were gaining entry to the "best" public elementary schools in the country. It had to be comparable right?

Bull shit. The teachers are not that great and the class sizes are horrendous. 29.
The 2.0 curriculum is not challenging. My child has not learned much this year.

I feel cheated.

If you are in a similar situation, please don't make the same mistake we did. Keep your child in that top rated private school. Your money is better spent. Now my property taxes are much higher and I have nothing to show for it.
