Just like you don't need to tell your employer that your doctor's appointment is for herpes treatment, you need not tell your employer what you plan to do during time off.

I'm a grad school student, working on my dietetic internship at a hospital. (2nd year of grad school was an intern rotation with several different agencies.) I have a job interview Friday afternoon and wondered if it's inappropriate to ask for time off specifically for that reason. I would think they'd encourage the possibility of a job, but I don't want to offend them by so obviously looking somewhere other than their facility. I'm not sure whether to tell them the specific reason I'm asking for time off, or to just say it's for an appointment. What do you think?

(PS...I'm not really the grad student. I'm asking this for my daughter, who is the grad student. She asked my advice, and I have no idea what to tell her. TIA!)
