Thanks for the response. Is this a job search for which you would consult a headhunter or should I put feelers out in my professional network first?

You can look for law firms that allow you to have reduced billables --Dickstein Shapiro for example has a white collar defense practice group and allows attorneys to choose an 80% schedule. THey like to hire former gov't attorneys too.

I think WC defense would be one of the more difficult practice areas in which to work a reduced schedule. When the government comes knocking, clients panic and want your full attention 24/7.

I am 12 years out of law school and have been told that I have a stellar resume. I have lots of federal trial and white collar experience as a government lawyer (don't want to say where) plus a few years of WC defense experience in BigLaw from back in the day. I would like to return to white collar defense at a firm (not interested in going out on my own). BUT I don't want to totally destroy my family life. I'm willing to work long hours when necessary to prep for trial or when I have to travel, but I'd prefer to keep my working hours to 40/week the rest of the time. Are there any firms that would accommodate a schedule like that? I'm okay with a counsel title and with the compensation being adjusted for my lower billables.
