I'm at 24 yr old, African American male that graduated from OLV after starting at Annunciation. There never seemed to be a racial problem while I was at OLV (never was a member of the church); their focus was on children that they felt could succeed within their rigorous academic program....also felt that my mom played a role in their decision to accept me. I feel that in most NW schools there will be a lack in diversity but it ultimately does not play a significant role in acceptance.

OLV set me up with a great primary education and allowed me to be accepted to Gonzaga, Georgetown Prep, and the boarding school St. Andrew's School in Delaware. Great education at OLV and definitely a step in the setting up your kid for future success

We are Hispanic and my kids go to a super white school in CC. I would be stunned if they were admitting with race in mind. Are you parish members?

minorities are accepted because the principal likes to have diversity through culture and not race. there i said it.

My little Black child was admitted to OLV. We applied for PK and stayed half day for the visit; loved it. The people were very nice.

We aren't a minority so I don't know details, as will be also our first year.

We are, however, foreigners...

Does the parish have a lot of diversity? Parochial schools are usually a reflection of their immediate neighborhoods/communities.

how hard is it for minorities to get into OLV? they do not have many latinos , african americans or asians. is this because of the principal.
i would love for my daughter to go there, but there seems to be blatant avoidance in diversity

My kid shadowed there last year and this is what we came away with. Very structured, good/great academics, small, DIVERSE, principal is a no nonsense person - her way or the highway, good out placement, cramped facilities, good location, teachers been there for awhile or have history with the school. We went with a different school as it wasn't a good fit for our child. We know a couple people well who kids are there, love it and doing very very well. They don't have a lot of spots, so contact them early if you interested.

We have a child there in early childhood and couldn't be happier. Great school and great families.

Also interested in

- how common it is for DCPS (Key School) kids to move to OLV in 6th grade; and

- how important church attendance/donations to the parish are in admissions decisions.

Hi there!

We are seriously considering this school for our DS.

Can someone share its experiences with the institution?

Much appreciated!
