My parents live in leisure world - it is great for them. Rentals are a good way to find out if she would like it.

Not all units have hoas. My in-laws have a co-op. They paid something crazy like $55k, and they pay $500 a month in co-op fees, but that covers all utilities. The only things they pay for are cable and phone. And bc it's a co-op, any appliance that breaks is replaced for free by the co-op. I think this might be the cheapest option, but you should check with a realtor who specializes in Leisure world (Cathy Gilmore realty is located in leisure world plaza, and they list many of the properties in lw). Please post back and let us know what you find out.

They have really high HOA fees--like $700-800. So a 100k condo plus HOA comes out to a pretty big rental expense.

Agent here. There are 17 rental units on the market at Leisure World right now, ranging from $1150 for a 1-BR to $1650-1700 for 2- and 3-BRs. Use one of the MLS end user sites like homesdatabase.com or realtor.com, look for rentals in 20906 and then map them, or look at the subdivision - should be Leisure World or The Greens at Leisure World, and Fairways, Rossmoor Mutual, Turnberry Courts are some of the community names within LW.

There are no rental buildings, but individual units can be rented. There is at least one condo unit available now for rent in Leisureworld on MLS. I would contact a realtor if you are interested.

MIL would like to look at Leisure World. She refuses to ever purchase a place again. She only wants to rent. Does anyone know if LW has rentals? I've been looking online, but can't find the info.
