Depends which one. If its inside the beltway and only cars then it's not a problem. We live 2 houses between us and 267 and it's fine. They are even adding more sound walls so it will be even quieter.

Of course it is, as long as you don't mind it.

We live close to the highway in an apartment building. You get used to it and barely notice it. The only thing I notice is if there are sirens.

We live closer than that. We can't see the highway or hear it, but we can hear the metro, which runs down the middle of the highway. It's fine. Houses on my street seem to sell quickly at good prices so I don't think it has been a problem for resale.

I would look for another house. You don't know if they are going to expand ot change that road in the next 10 or 20 years. It not only matters what you can live with, but you have to ask yourself if a prospective buyer will want to buy a house that close to the highway?

My brother lives about that distance from the PA turnpike. When the windows are open or you're outside in the yard, you can hear the traffic noise in the background, but you get used to it. In winter, with windows closed, you don't hear it much inside at all. It's a constant sound - not like cars honking.

We are about 0.1 miles from the beltway. Wouldn't recommend it. 0.4 seems fine, unless too noisy.

If you are seriously considering it, do some recon, maybe check out the neighborhood around five o'clock and ask some of the neighbors or listen for the noise and check the air quality then. Also consider the street, is there a lot of thru traffic and speeders?

Try coming back at another time and checking as well.

I can not see it from my house. If I go on the road is about 0.6, if I measure on the map is about 0.4 miles.
Thanks.

We dont hear general noise but we do hear sirens. If youre not near a Police/fire station/Hospital you should be ok. We are about .5 mile from route 29 as the crow flies.
