I like George. Jon is nice but its a nickname itself. If you want that one, you could call him Jonny to distinguish him from his father.

I agree that Jon is short for Jonathan (your in-laws did it wrong ). Why not call him Jonathan to differentiate from his dad?

George isn't bad either, anymore, though I remember when I was a kid thinking it was the most stodgy old-man name in existence. Fred & George. And now they're both back.

Jon alone isn't really a standalone name. Jonathan and call him Jon, or John and call him Jack (though I never really understood that).

Jon. George is my father's name. I love my dad more than anything and we are very close, but I've always hated his name.

Thanks for the insight! His father is "Jon" just J-O-N. If I name him Jon, I want to call him something a little different otherwise everyone in my house will be confused with 2 Jons. I like Jack as a nickname to Jon. Although, I am starting to prefer George.

George. My husband is named Jon and he always jokes that his parents didn't think about what his name should be, just went w what they call corpses.

I mean he is joking, but I do prefer George even w the great association w Jon.
