I think it is great that an intelligent, highly educated person is using her gifts teaching kindergartners. We need more people who care about bettering their community!

The one kid I know who is definitely a prodigy, if not a genius bypassed all the GT/AAP nonsense, bypassed TJ, and went straight to college after 7th grade.
I know a 50-year-old woman who did almost the same thing and skipped most of high school and went straight to a well-known university. She became... a kindergarten teacher. So not sure if it all matters in the end.

I' m not sure Grohl qualifies as a genius. He went to TJ as a freshman, but was quite the stoner and hardly a genius; he had to repeat his freshman year at Bishop Ireton after transferring.

There are many more doctors and computer nerds that didn't go to Duke or TJ.

I know it doesn't count because TJ was different then, but David Grohl went there and he is, to many, a musical genius.

I knew two kids at Duke who went to TJ. Both were phenomenally smart. One is now a doctor. The other is a computer programmer.

I know of four (personally): two founded moderately successful business. One cashed out in the .com boom with hundreds of millions of dollars. The other is the CTO of a mid-sized database firm.
Two others is supports government R & D, and has won multiple awards for is technical intelligence development.
None of these three went to TJ, but rather rather madison HS in the early 80's (3) and Langley in the early 70's.
All three of the people from Madison when to public VA universities: Va Tech or UVA.

Yeah, the question is, anyone we know? Anyone who did something innovative and special, like inventing Facebook for instance? Any Nobel laureates? Anything other than "went to UVa or Tech"?

Yes--I know of one. Way out in front of all the children from K on. Stood out like a sore thumb in gen ed. back when only the gifted went to centers. Stood out at the GT center as well.
I know a lot who went to center and claim to be GT--but I only know one that probably did need something outside of the community school.
