This was my first thought this morning.

The other two more horrible options are possible, too, but the last time a pope stepped down instead of dying in office was 700yrs ago. His statement referenced "body and mind" which leads me to assume Alzheimer's as well.

If a was a betting man, I would put my money on Alzheimer's. The language "body and mind" was too specific. Of course, that won't stop the conspiracy theorists or Catholic bashers from endless unfounded speculation.

This documentary blow the lid off the church. The Pope had to resign after this stuff got out.

You aren't serious, are you? A work of fiction with biblical and historical inaccuracies and you are calling it a documentary?

Yeah, but I am betting several of them before also suffered from this. I am sure there is some scandal involved.

p.s. the reason I'm thinking the others are actually less likely is that I'd have assumed no one would have sat on this for the past few years. I'd have expected news of either to break long ago.

I am guessing that something is about to break that he moved guys who abused kids.

My brother is guessing that it is about to come out that he was a concentration camp guard not just a reluctant member of the Nazi Youth.

Scalia's son is a priest, but sadly not yet a cardinal. That's the kind of pope the Church needs!

Haha. Because the Catholic Church is political. I'll leave it there.
