The kid can take the exam in 3rd gr. But he may not have enough time to settle down and feel comfortable.. DCs in 5th gr. GT, and admitted into MS magnet this coming Fall. She enjoys the GT program so much, fun and challenging. For the Less well off people like us, it is a great alternative to the big 3.
You can go to the magnet elementary straight from private school. The only requirement is that you be a Montgomery County resident. They have a special testing day for private school kids.
True. But there are "ways" to answer GT/Magnet questions that private school do not go over. so if OP is switching school anyway, why wait.

Not sure what they're talking about either. We went from private to the HGC. I'm pretty sure it's mostly driven by test scores and teacher recommendations.
