We had a fabulous time at the beach club. It's centrally located, and the sandy pool + pirate ship was a huge hit with our 5-year old. You'll have a great time!

I love the swan and dolphin, but if you have older kids that like to swim, they will have serious pool envy if they see stormalong bay. Most Disney resort amenities (restaurants, movies) are open to all, but the pools are limited to guests only.

That area between HS and Epcot is wonderful. Definitely my favorite, but I'd go with the Swan/Dolphin. The rooms are a little bigger and nicer, and the atmosphere more sophisticated. The pool is less crowded and my kids liked the waterfall feature more than the beach entry at the Beach and Yacht. Plus the Swan and Dolphin are much cheaper than the Beach and Yacht Club. We stayed at the Beach club one stay, and at the Swan the second time. Everytime I passed the Beach Club on the way to Epcot I regretted the money I had spent.
Note: The Swan and Dolphin are so ugly on the outside, but if you stay there you won't see the outside.

The Yacht Club shares a theme pool (Storm Along Bay) with Beach club. It is huge.
Yacht Club also shares the exercise room with Beach club--basically Beach club and Yacht club are almost like the same HUGE resort with two different sides. If you prefer more tranquil, formal settings, go for Yacht club. Beach club tends to be "lighter and brighter" and tends to attract more families with young kids--but you get the exact same amenities at both resorts.
I've stayed in Yacht club and Boardwalk Inn (across the lake). Both were wonderful and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I agree -- we ended up staying at the Swan and Dolphin which was fine but a little farther. I remember thinking if we came back beach club would be my choice.
