Small quiet office. I once had the office next to the loudmouth, and it was a nightmare.

Small quiet office, hands down.

Move to the new office and bring lots of duct tape

Stay. Move when he moves or leaves.

Small quiet. No choice.

I think you already know the answer. I sit across from a woman who can charitably be described as the most annoying woman on Earth. The volume is an issue, but so is the content - she tells annoying stories, she says everything more than once, she listens to annoying music and when she's not busy she spends her entire day making personal phone calls. I celebrate every day she teleworks or calls in sick. I live for her vacation times.

Oh, how I hate her. If there was anywhere for me to move, I would.

Stay in your office.

Many years ago, my office was located next to the loud mouth. It drove me nuts on a daily basis. Doors closed, ear plugs in, it didn't matter. This guy's inside voice is at the volume of a yell. I just don't think I can handle being his next door neighbor again.

Well then there's your answer.

We have someone like this in our office but he knows he is loud and is good natured about it. People don't think anything of just going over and shutting his door on him. I take it that is not an option?
Maybe wait until another large office opens up(can you place dibs on it?)

Sounds like you should stay put. Just say you are used to your current office and like it that it's close to the kitchen and bathroom. If the loud mouth leaves or another office away from him opens up, ask to move and explain you need to space.

I had an office next to the guy who never learned what an inside voice was. In the hallways, in the office with the door closed, it was like he was shouting. And he talked incessantly. Can they knock out the walls between your office and the next one to give you a big office?

Is there a chance that a different, but still bigger office, will open in the future or is the one next to the loud mouth the only option?

I was recently promoted and now have the option to move to a large office (twice the size of my current office). I am reluctant to make this move, however, because the new office is right next to a person who is obnoxiously loud. Seriously, this guy's everyday speaking voice is a shout. I hate working with him because I always feel like he is yelling at me.

My other option is to stay in my current office, which is half the size of my new office and typical for an office of a person in a lower-ranking position. It is quiet, however, and nicely located near the bathroom and kitchen. I really like my current office except for the size.

My final comment on this is that it might raise some eyebrows if I turn away the large office. People might think it is weird to get a promotion and to stay in the smaller office. In addition, as I work more in my new position, I might outgrow the smaller space, although I do not anticipate that happening for years.

What would you do?
