I wear a HR monitor and spinning for me burns almost as much as running.

For every 10min of running, I burn approx 125cal, for even 10 min of spin that I PUSH, I burn around 110cal.

However what you BURN has a lot to do with your weight.

My DH burns about 30% more cal than me doing the exact same exercise.

I've lost 40lbs and my HR monitor has show that shift...I burn way more cal when I was fat than when I was thin.

It seems the total cal. burned in a spin class is from 600-700 per hour sooo 450 to 525

that sounds more like it (600cal/hour) ...spinning is intense and I also push it too.

I wear a heart rate monitor in spinning and I routinely burn about 600 calories in an hour-long class. I really push it though.

Any generic calorie counter is going to be way off -- both for running and spinning. I would go to a few different websites, put in the numbers, average them out, and then subtract 15%. That way you know you are not overestimating. A better method of calculating calorie burn is to monitor your heart rate, but that is a pain and is still just an estimate.

I'm tracking my food and excercise on My Fitness Pal app. and I'm shocked to learn that a 45 minute spin class is only worth 339 calories. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I sweat a ton in class and can not believe that I'm only burning 339 calories. To put it in perspective, I jog 4-5 miles a day (10minute miles)when I don't take a spinning class and that burns between 475-577 calories according to My Fitness pal.

When I take a spin class, I feel like I have just ran a half marathon -- I feel awesome but like I've really worked hard. So I'm feeling (maybe wishing) that it is more than 339 calories.

Can anyone estimate the calories burned in a pretty intensive spin class for 45 minutes? Do you think 339 calories is accurate?

Thanks!
