Fed here on Maxi Flex. I have to work my 80 hrs a pay period but flexible as to how many hours per day. I try to keep 8-4:30 hours (1/2 hour lunch) but sometimes I leave early and make up time on another day.l

Know someone who takes 1-2 hour lunches daily. And then plays sports with co-workers and runs personal errands while at work. Why are do people like this never caught and prosecuted?

At our agency, we're required to work 8.5 hours, with an unpaid half hour lunch. I'm management, so no matter how many hours I work beyond that, I get no credit hours or comp time.

I typically work through lunch at my desk, or read the Post online for a few minutes. We're absolutely required to stay the full 8.5 hours.

What if they stay later (to make up the time) or don't have any work to do? If the latter, are they required to be at their desk doing non-work things?

Low risk of that with the Feds.

Knew people that worked 9 to 2 with 2 hour lunch breaks.

Only 1/2 hour lunch is mandated at SEC. If you come in at 8:30, you can leave at 5:00. I will tell you that you may end up in a group where it is difficult to leave that early. There are often meetings that run well past 5:00 in my group, for example.

Leg branch agency here - our schedule includes 8 full work hours and a 45 min unpaid lunch. So, my day starts at 7:15 and I leave at 4:00pm.

I check in at 8:00am, leave at 4:30pm, take 1 hour lunch from 12-1pm daily. My entire division takes 1 hour lunch, 7.5 hour work. Some check in at 9:00am, some check in at 7:00am.

I'm coming from a non profit and new to the government scene. I'll be starting my new position at the SEC at the end of the month after applying over 6 months ago. I'm trying to figure out my hours for commuting purposes and childcare coverage.

Does anyone know if lunch is a mandatory 1 hour or can I take a 1/2 hour at the SEC? For example if I came in at 8:30, took an hour lunch, would I leave at 5:30? (8 hr working + 1 hr lunch) or do I have it wrong?
