If you had the re-glazing done, did it look okay? Is white the only option? What kind of floor tile did you go with?

We got several quotes on a remodel for our master bath a few years ago. All of them came from contractors well-recommended on Angie's List. The cheapest quote was about $12,000 for labor only. The other two were in the $17,000 range--again, for labor only. We decided to pass.

We recently had a quote for $15k for redo of our full bath (small condo, mid to low end stuff). Found another contractor 2 of our neighbors used/recommended for less than 1/2 the price.
And the surprising thing was the 15k quote was from a mediocre place out in burtonsville. Not sure what they were thinking!

I bought all my own products (tile, vanity, tub, cabinets, etc.) and hired someone to demo the old bathroom and install the new stuff. No plumbing changes, just replacing everything. Total cost about $5k, $3k of which was labor.

If you want to rip out old tile and tub and replace everything (toilet, lighting, floor, vanity, etc.) and you want to hire someone, I would budget at least 6 to 8k. It really depends on how much demo there is of your old tile and how hard it is to remove it.

If you want to, say, reglaze the tub and tile and keep everything else (just paint the walls and vanity, keep the toilet, do some of the work yourself), it could be much less.

When I did the minor renos on 3 bathrooms (paint, medicine cabinet and lighting upgrade, floor, reglaze tub and tile) it was about $2500 or 3k for each bathroom. But I kept the original tub and tile and just reglazed them white.

for the bathroom where I plan to take everything out, and just go with home depot/lowe's replacements, i'm budgeting about $8k. don't have a contractor yet though.

We did a cosmetic reno on our bath for about 3k. It looks completely different. Much, much nicer. One thing about the tub/shower combo in a middle class home-- it stays much cleaner (smooth surfcae of the tub vs grout of shower) and is more family freindly for kids if you are selling.

Two full baths, one has a bit more room, so more tile on the floor, and a double sink/60 inch vanity. I would want to do it with low to mid-grade stuff, nothing fancy. These are from the 70's so anything is better. Is it worth turning the tub in the larger one (master) into a shower? There is no room for a tub longer than 5 feet, and we never use the tub for a bath. The tub is not worth keeping and is worn out looking, unfortunately.
