Sometimes your health insurance company can provide referrals.

I would post/search on either General Parenting and/or Special Needs for a greater response.

I'll try posting here but maybe it's a health posting as well ... we'll see responses.

My three year old daughter currently is in remission from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis thanks to Methotrexate once a week. I haven't looked at all into homeopathic remedies/approaches, but am interested in learning more based on a NYT article I read earlier this week. While we as a family eat fairly healthy, there's always room for improvement. I'd like to find out more about reducing gluten (how do I start, what are replacements for kid staples like pasta and bread) and dairy (what do I replace them with, how will she get calcium, etc.)? Does anyone have a recommendation for a pediatric nutritionist that I could meet with in person? I'd even be open to a teleconference or something like that if such a group exists. I DON'T want a non-parent nutritionist to tell me about making all my food from scratch. Rather, someone who can help me strike a balance between healthy foods avoiding or reducing JRA triggers and not spending all day cooking. Dinner still has to be on the table in 15 minutes or less. Oh, and I asked my pediatrician and DD's rheumatologist and both said diet and JRA aren't related. I don't buy it.

Thanks!
