This has to be a first.

A real life AD coming out from the DCUM shadows.

Bravo!

She can't spell either. That gives me a lot of confidence in the school.

If you want a school that goes through HS in Va, you are limited to Flint Hill, SSSAS, and Potomac.

OP here. We would prefer not to switch schools later, but it is not necessarily a deal breaker. We are looking for a school which is worth its tuition and which would fir our DD's personality (strong academics, nice atmosphere). Thanks!

In our experience K-8 has been good for younger years. It focuses on the younger child rather than on HS. When DS is HS age, we will move to another school. There's no way to know at age 5 whether the school will be a good fit at age 15 anyway.

We looked at Green Hedges, Flint Hill, and Congressional, and The New School for our rising fifth grader. She has been in AAP and is doing well, but still not happy with the rigidity of the program and the SOL prep being forced on them. We have our hopes set on Congressional. It would keep her on the same advanced math track she is already on, and provide small classes and deeper curriculum.

We live in Fairfax and have been thinking about putting our DD in private school (currently 2nd grade). We would like to start the applications process in the fall (for admission in 4th grade), so any suggestions about great private schools on the VA side will be greatly appreciated. DD is a very bright and very social kid who would thrive in a smaller classroom and with the right amount of attention. Thanks!
