17:08 here. Sorry, I didn't answer the why - it's user friendly and because all of my old information is already stored in old TT files, which means it can be instantly imported into the new year. Also TT connects to all of my banks to automatically download my 1099s and other information. I don't know how much Taxcut costs, but TurboTax seems pretty affordable to me. I think federal e-file is free, and we print out and mail in the State return.

I've heard horror stories about H&R Block. On the other hand, many attorneys I know (including tax attorneys) use TurboTax. No brainer.
