Well I missed that part, and I could live with that. I still don't think they are necessary and I will continue not to make them. The food, activities and cake are expensive enough. I seriously don't understand where this goody bag stuff came from. No one did these when I was a kid.

We always got goodie bags at parties when I was a kid. Maybe that's why you don't see the point of them.

I'm really not trying to be hateful. I just hate how wasteful they are b/c in reality the stuff goes straight to the garbage. If he got a book, that'd be a different story, but of the dozens of parties we've been to that's never happened. I'd be so happy if I never had to take DS to another party with a goody bag ever. I also think it sets him up to think he should get a present every time he goes to a party.

Settle down Larla - the OP just said she's giving out a book. In case you rode the short bus, a book is not a sticker, an eraser or a cheap Chinese toy.

Larla here - I clearly missed that; read my post above. And I've never once had a child cry after leaving my son's birthday party b/c they did not get a goody bag.

Because kids love them. I'm the PP who yesterday said the PP's who hate the goody bags have forgotten what it was like to be a kid. Newsflash, Cranky Pants: You aren't the target audience.

Bring extra. Just buy different books. If unclaimed, your child will have 2 more books to read. win-win.

I prepare for all kids who *could* show, including siblings. There are always neighbors we can give them to if they don't show.

Bring them just in case. How embarassing if the kids show up and you don't have anything for them. Agree it's rude not to rsvp, but as a hostess you should always have extras.

I almost ran out at DD's party b/c older/younger siblings wanted/cried for a goody bag. So always prepare for extra.

You could or you could call the parents and see of they're coming, it would save you some time. Dd recently went to the bathroom during favor bag handing out time and somehow didn't get one. She didn't notice (they're 4-5 yo) but there weren't any leftover and if she did notice I bet she would have been upset, so please be prepared either way!

I would bring four, just in case.

My son's party is tomorrow and 4 people have not RSVP'd at all. Should I prep as if they are coming? I'm giving out a book and have two extra right now. Just wondering if I should run out and buy two more just in case they all show.
