Glad to hear there are others who hate the new report card. It provides zero information, all the while they're insisting that these new reports provide more information. Also, why do PE, Art and Music get graded the same way Math and Reading get graded, given that the specials are only for one hour each week and they have reading and math every day. My kids got I in Performing Music but they've never performed any music. Now they're depressed because they think they're flunking music. These report cards are a new low for MCPS.

Sounds pretty absurd. My DS starts KG in the fall. Good to know I should help him with his intellectual risk taking.

Also, if your teacher understands it and can explain it. Which mine can not. Like difference between p and I. She can't.

Simply means ability to think outside the box, look at things in a different way. Ask your teacher to clarify exactly what she observes.

I don't mind the report card but it would be nice if there was an overall grade/ score or some individual write up.

First time kindergarten parent here. Can someone please explain to me how the progress sheet works? I think it's supposed to be PIN? What's good and what's bad? What does these letters stand for? Thanks!

I am equally concerned about the fact that my son is PROG in Fluency. He speaks flawless English.
He also struggling with Algebraic concepts, apparently.
I am going to try no to panic.

Fluency is not under language this is fluency of thought. Fluency in English is automatically assumed if your child is not ESOL

I do believe it is "proficient," but I am equally puzzled. Fortunately our K teacher also sends home a "data notebook" which is much more illustrative of what the kids are really doing.

I forgot to say my son's teacher didn't even had them out today. I'm not sure if she forgot or decided they just don't matter.

I really don't like the new report cards. This completely reminds me of the Arrested Development episode when they show a close up of Maeby's report card and she has a picture of Elvis' head as a grade.

They are terrible, and my son's teacher can answer no questions about it. She doesn't seem to understand the system at all either.

I know its the 2nd quarter, so we've seen this new 2.0 form report card before. But still - really?!?!? It is half way through the school year and reading this silly report car (a one sheeter) tells me virtually nothing about the types of work covered this year. This, on top of the lack of unit test (which used to provide detailed indicators of progress) means that I have hardly anything concrete to look at to determine what is happening this school year. It feels like smoke and mirrors to me.
