If you are so inclined, baklava is not difficult to make.

This doesn't help you now, but every year in May (usually the weekend after the National Cathedral's May Flower Mart) St Sophia's in NWDC has a big weekend long Greek festival and I always get the baklava (and lots of other Greek pastries) there -- lots of honey!

Anyone know of anyplace that has great Greek baklava, rather than Middle Eastern? The kind that's honey-er??

Mediterranean Bakery on South Pickett in Alexandria is a Middle Eastern market. They have delicious baklava and other Middle Eastern sweets (non Middle Eastern pastries not so good). Also tons of great prepared food - hummus, fire-roasted baba ganoush, felafel, grape leaves, kibbe, olives, cheeses, manoushi (za'atar pizza), mujardara, tabbouleh, fresh hot pita bread etc., etc. I make a trip there once a month or so from Maryland. My husband is Lebanese and this place is his favorite.
