No my child is not invited to a lot of play dates short off the monthly birthday party and get together.

Huh. I try to keep it to two per weekend. I've usually set one up with someone I would like to see (lots of my friends are parents of my child's friends), and I accept the first invitation extended to my child. Then I turn down another one or two for each weekend. Though sometimes if it's someone we haven't seen for a while, or a kid my daughter is particular friends with this week, we'll do two in one day. I and all my friends work full time, so all our socializing has to be done on weekends.

So, wait, do these even count as playdates? I'm confused about the people who say they aren't doing any, or only once every few months. I'm talking about when we are invited to someone's house for two hours on a weekend. Or when we invite another child (and his or her parents, if they want) to our house. Or when we arrange a meetup in advance at a playground.

Same here, pretty much none. He is very social at school and with a few neighborhood kids on the odd weekend, but haven't done anything formal actually in awhile.

It depends on what you consider a playdate. I don't really count a casual trip to a neighbor's yard to play when we just happen to run into each other outdoors.

1-2 a month sounds on the high end of this pool.. but good for you/your kids if you can pull it off.

I've made a huge effort to ask people for play dates for my son. I hardly ever get an ask for him though. Really wonder if it's him?me? But also think that a lot people just don't have them that often. It's hard to tell. The kids always have a good time and my son is not an outlier so am not really sure what's up. In the end he has about one a week or one every other week.

I have twins in K. One has had one playdate, the other 2.

Maybe 4 or 5 a year (and we reciprocate), so altogether a max of 10 in a year, including the summer. That is less than one a month.

My son has only been invited to one play date.

We don't very often. Sometimes with our neighbor, sometimes with a friend from class. But our kids are shy of three yrs apart and they play together all the time. I will say that our son just now seems to want to have more playmates and he is about to turn 6.

We probably average one every other week. It seems to me that families with multiple kids close in age don't do many play dates because the kids function as a built-in play group.

It could be a daily thing with our class! We are a one class per grade school so many of thm were together last year (or at least this year) and the parents all know each other. It makes for easy playdates, carpools, parties, etc.

Personally I don't allow daily playdates or sometimes even weekly. We just have too much going on.
