I'm European, and love American homes. The comfort of American homes is way better than European. European homes are cold and a lot of them (older ones) do not have central heating and air condition.

I'm not dissing Europe, I'm just saying American homes are better for me.

I like having things tucked away in closets rather than having bulky wardrobes in the room. The only exception is an entire wall of built-in cupboards.

Funny. Remembering the housing stock in Holland. Centuries-old buildings with the steepest stairs, tiniest rooms, and bathrooms with no room to even sit on the toilet. I'll take wood, thanks very much.

Sorry, I've lived in shoddy European housing as well. Even the ones that have "well built" exteriors can have horrible plumbing, terrible heating and cooling, etc.

If you live here and are staying for a long time, you should make the right financial decision for you, not get prissy about "oh the houses aren't as nice as at home". Real estate is always about location. Why are the prices so expensive in most major world cities? It's not because it's value for money, it's because you want to live in the middle of London or Tokyo or whatever.

So, I know I will get a lot of negative comments for posting this, but knowing how homes are made in Europe I just can't justify buying a home for living in it knowing that I am spending a large amount for a home that it is made of wooden pieces and paper.
