Your kids are (or will be soon?) in full time school; right?
If you can come up with a solid plan in terms of after-school care and what will happen on sick days, snow days, and school holidays, go for it.

Take it. Your youngest is almost school-age and you said that your family can use the $. If it is in a field you are excited about, I think you will regret not giving it a try.

I had a chance to try venture capital once. It was a left hand turn for me, but I took it. I ended up on another path, but I'd always have regretted not trying it.

I'd go for it. the 4 year-old soon starts K and the 7 year-old is already in school. It's a great time to start back to work. Set your boundaries for work at the outset. And, as another poster said, if it doesn't work well for your family you can quit.

It's only a dream job if it works for your family. It sounds like you know it won't - and you're looking for anonymous 3rd party justification.
You're not single anymore, and you have invested time into 2 children and your wife. It sounds like that will change.
If you're actually good at what you do - the opportunity will present itself again for your job. The opportunity to be a good dad - won't.

I scaled back work a few years ago and left a job that I loved and paid well because it was just too much with 2 young kids. Now my kids are 4 and 7, I wasn't planning on going back to work for another few years, but my dream job just came out of nowhere
