I really want it (and we could use the $) but we have really gotten used to the laid back lifestyle that comes with one parent not working.
Do I take it? Do I want to take on all that comes with a big career again?
It's not impossible, not a ton of travel (like my old career) but still I'm afraid to take the leap. But I'm also really excited!
I'll dissent.
It's only a dream job if it works for your family. It sounds like you know it won't - and you're looking for anonymous 3rd party justification.
You're not single anymore, and you have invested time into 2 children and your wife. It sounds like that will change.
If you're actually good at what you do - the opportunity will present itself again for your job. The opportunity to be a good dad - won't.
