We belong to the parish and are considering St. Ann for our DC. PPs are right, though. The public schools are excellent. St Ann serves families in the McKinley, Ashlawn, Glebe, and Tuckahoe neighborhoods, and possibly Nottingham as well. Unless you are Catholic or want smaller class sizes than the publics offer, there isn't a significant incentive to go to parochial school in this area.

That being said, the friends we have who chose St. Ann absolutely love it.

Good friends had children there who ended up at Gonzaga and Stone Ridge for high school. They loved, loved, loved the down to earth warmth at the school, and felt their kids were extremely well supported. Agree that any enrollment issues are just because of good public alternatives.

There is an absolutely wonderful school community but the school lacks academic resources. We left after just two years because my DC was not being academically challenged. she went to a Montessori preschool and was ready to learn. I missed the community but ended up loving our local public school and the differentiated teaching.

It's probably due to the excellent middle schools in the same neighborhood as St. Ann's. From what I understand, a large number of students leave by 6th grade to attend Swanson or Williamsburg.

Seems like a good school so I am puzzled as to why they have enrollment issues. We are contemplating this school for Kindergarten. Thanks.
