The schools are very good - scores not as high as Whitman and Wooten but the pretty close. It's an area and school district for people who are well off but not rich, educated, and more down-to-earth than "real" chevy Chase, though most don't have the same multimillion dollar income.
As for snarky comments, it is an anonymous forum, and you did come off a bit snooty with the "their neighborhood" comment. I suspect you were saying you wanted to be in a more upper middle class area than working class, and NCC is that, but people are very friendly and more unassuming. I don't think they would have appreciated that comment in person or anonymously. If that bothers you, it's not the neighborhood for you, I'd think.

I'm reasonably sure that was a prank post.
There are many raccoons in the Rock Creek park, seeing one during the day is not good when children are out playing on the jungle gym swings.

Our budget is 750-850K, and we were hoping to buy a home in Bethesda/Chevy Chase (as everyone these days, I know). We have 2 kids and have been looking at 4 bdrms homes, but at that price range I can only find inventory in North Chevy Chase (Near 495/Jones Bridge/Rock Creek. Can you share what the area is like? We have 2 toddlers who would stay at home with a nanny (so having other kids in the area to play with would be amazing) and I've heard that North Chevy Chase elementary is not terrible. Husband and I commute everyday to downtown DC, so I'm scared as hell of taking Conn ave everyday because of traffic. Any thoughts?
