I am not covered because I am not married, even though my boyfriend and I own a home together and want a child very much and would provide a stellar home environment. We do plan to marry but would prefer insurane coverage not be the reason we get married..... we both have excellent incomes and federal jobs etc.

I am a fed but have coverage...why the disparity for you?

That said, I 110% support equity in coverage. We are an mfi case and should it be the case we need donor sperm, we wouldn't be covered. I wish you luck...this is an important issue.

I'm a fed but didn't have coverage because I'm not married to a guy.

I see. That is horrible.
Yes, 50% coverage here too obviously and the $5k without drugs for my share is hard to swallow (Especially with pay freezes and possible furloughs) but I am very grateful to have something. I was shocked to learn tricare covers nada either. Well, more disappointed than shocked. I am rarely shocked at insurance programs at this point

OP, I would say this is a big enough issue that people with no IF issues would still support your petition. You might think of retitling this post...

Yes, thank you! (I was excluded because I work for the Federal government.)

Maryland insurance section 15-810 mandates insurance coverage for IVF procedures for married couples who use the couples' sperm and eggs. The mandate excludes couples with certain typs of male factor infertility, the LGBT community, and single women. I would like to change the mandate to offer infertility coverage for all of Maryland's residents. I am working with a state senator in Prince George's county to introduce legislation to change the mandate but I need your voice. Your help. Can you please tell your story and if you feel comfortable, include your county of residence.
