This is cute but I don't like "in lieu of a gift." Because a book is a gift.

Because for many people, baby showers are part of the fun and joy of anticipating the birth with some of your closest female friends and family. It's not always a gift grab, even if technically the term shower comes from showering the guest of honor with gifts.

13:59 again. For the diapers I've heard of showers where there is some sort of raffle, the entry to which is a pack of diapers. I don't have firsthand experience with that, though.

My friend is the last of family and friends to have her first, so she is getting all the clothes she could need, and many more expensive things like co-sleeper, car seat, play mats, bouncers... Her registry is admittedly boring but practical.

So we are trying to theme the party to books and diapers.

Years ago a friend read me an invitation she got to a book themed shower asking people to bring their favorite books to start he baby's library. Maybe a poem - it was great. I couldn't find something creative online.

Has any one got good ideas for an invitation for book themed baby shower. Maybe that gently discourages clothes (although kind of course). To focus on books, and diapers - which is what she needs.
