So...we don't have a daughter...and aren't religious. I'm thinking of selling it but it feels awful to do.

A friend of mine used her wedding dress as the material for her granddaughters christening gowns. They were able to get 2 or 3 dresses out of it.

If it has sentimental value you could take a piece off (to keep for yourself or DD) and then find a place to donate it to a woman who cannot afford a dress. Sometimes I feel like donating "sentimental" items- and hoping that they can be sentimental for someone else- lessens the burden of carrying all that sentimentality around with me. I have no idea if that makes sense.

I wore my mom's dress and it was a gorgeous beaded silk confection that I had altered a bit to bring it up to date. I think it's at my parents' house but I actually have no idea.

Mine is hanging in the closet. It is pretty. I still love it. I bought it in 1997 and paid $400 for it -- it was the last one and it was a small size. I doubt my girls will ever want to wear it, but I don't want to get rid of it either.

I almost choke when I watch that show on TLC where people spend crazy sums on wedding dresses. I watched one the other night where she spend $13,000 on a dress. Why wouldn't you use the money as a down payment on a house?

Mine was a wedding gift from an aunt, who is a wedding dress designer. Custom made, It's been 20 years, and I am 4 sizes larger. Currently in a box on the top shelf of my closet. Hopefully DD will wear it one day.

Mine is professionally cleaned and stored in a box in my basement. I won't get rid of it until I am done having kids b/c you never know if a daughter might want it or might want to use it to have a dress made. It was a beautiful classic dress and should stand the test of time.

I had mine professional cleaned and then sold it on preownedweddingdresses.com. It sold for about half of what I paid within two weeks (this was 5 years ago.) I am a fairly standard size (and tall) and I had minimum alterations, so pretty much anyone could have it altered to fit them.

It's hanging in my closet. Will probably wear it to a formal wedding this summer (and I have worn it probably 4-5 times since my wedding). It's a peach color and has spaghetti straps, and almost 10 years later I still love it! It cost about $300.

I sold it to a consignment shop the day AFTER my wedding. Sold it for more than I bought it for

Im not one to hold on to stuff for "sentimental" reasons. Memories yes, stuff - not really. Especially stuff I know I will never use again and lets be honest, the chances of your future daughter wearing it? I only know one person who did that.

I've seen many at yard sales and flea markets.

We've got very little storage space in our house. My wedding dress was a beautiful $3000 dress...but now I just don't k now what to do with it. I mean, its got sentimental value, but its not like it'll ever be worn again.
