When I worked in a well-known, high pressure restaurant kitchen we (chefs & cooks) frequently ordered takeout for after work on weekend nights. We were constantly tasting what we put out on those $100 plates and some good subs or hot wings at 1 am were like palate cleansers. They went well with the half-full $700 bottles of wine left after service.

A friend of mine sent me this thread. I'm actually the creator and resident life coach of Married to a Chef http://marriedtoachef.com You're so right, our restaurant men and women aren't around when the rest of the family are eating, so pretty often, it's the spouses of these men and women who do most of the cooking.

Here is a post I wrote, sharing what it's really like, being Married to a Chef. Thought I'd share and if you too, are connected to an epicurean man/woman.. you'll absolutely relate to what I share. http://www.marriedtoachef.com/2012/02/a-letter-to-those-who-have-no-idea-what-its-really-like/

Oh, and about what I cook - unlike my husband, I am not a foodie - http://www.marriedtoachef.com/2011/07/life-as-a-foodie/, so I usually rely on the handful of recipes I have in my trusty 'ol recipe book.

Wanna share that pork rub recipe?

I am. It's not as exciting as you might imagine. I was certain my kids would be adventurous eaters, but we aren't there yet with the 3 year old (but he does like hot sauce). Tonight we are having pulled pork tacos. I made the pork rub, salsa and will make the guacamole, but its all very simple. Good, but simple.

One of my best friends is married to a chef. It's not what you would imagine, from what she says. He works 6 days a week, way past dinner hour. It goes without saying that he's not home to cook dinner.

I'm interested in what families with chefs in them eat at home? I'm interested in this from the perspective of the chef or spouse of the chef (if you are the home cook and your spouse is a chef).

What are some typical meals you make?
