Yes I have just over 4 years with American Income Life. I went from my old job working 60 hours a week making 35k per year to making just over 60k in my first year with AIL as a benefit rep. In my second year I moved I to management and since then I've made over 100k per year. I do still work about 55 hours per week but I can honestly say AIL has hands down changed my life.
Now the "benefit rep" position is NOT door to door but you do have to work hard and put in some hours. We don't work 9-5 but most successful people in life work more than 40 hours per week. The benefits and compensation here make every second worthwhile.
Overall AIL is not for everyone but it does change lives every day. I would say your sister should be excited about the position because these opportunities don't come around more than a few times a lifetime. If she is able to apply herself to this position with a strong work ethich, both her and her children could benefit greatly from a career here.

My sister, who has been at her job for around 9-10 years, just had an interview with this company for a "Benefits Administrator" position -- aka door to door sales. She is so excited about it, and I don't want to rain on her parade, but I'm worried. She's a single mom and cannot afford a decrease in her current $48,000 salary. I worry that this job would bump her way down. Although she is ready to move on from her current company, it is a decent job with good benefits.
She has a tendency to get overly excited about whatever her current fixation is. She says this company was rated as the #1 employer of 2012 in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette (she lives in the area).
She explained to me that this is not cold calling, but is going to the homes of people who get this membership benefit via their union or other organization. She's excited and thinks this could be an "amazing opportunity".
