Are you from DC? Did they extend your benefits?

We are on the same boat. Next week will be my 6th month of being unemployed. I am from Md and was told that it will expire next week. I am a single mom with 2 kids and so depress right now. Any way they will extend it? Anyone knows? Hopefully a mirAcle happens. I'll find a job asap. Tia!

I was out of work for a few months (layoffs) and it was horrible. I feel like unfortunately I do place a lot of my "self worth" on not only having a job, but being good at it. Maybe there are some reasons I'm looking for acceptance, something to figure out in therapy... I'm in a not-so-stable gig now (under-valued, reduced pay and sub-par benefits), but it's work. So not only do I commiserate with you (it is really is tough out there) not hearing anything back from people or phantom leads get OLD FAST.

I'm trying like hell to avoid being out of work again, but it feels like I have a lot less control then I once did. Im sort of accepting that I have a lot to offer that maybe people don't see and at the end of the day sadly i am just a line item on a budget sheet.

It's going to sound dumb, but you are the only one that can make you happy. I still feel powerless, but its almost 50% my own fault.

I've been unemployed now for almost eight months, during which time I've been job-hunting very steadily with almost zero results.

I'm not looking for advice on how to find a job. I know I'm doing everything I'm "supposed" to do. I'm just looking to commiserate with my fellow pink-slippers. It sucks out there, let's bitch about it together!
