PP: Can you give a recommendation for designer/architect/civil engineer?

Where is it located? If you are also doing an addition you most likely need site plan approval that includes a civil engineer as well, which can run you several thousand dollars. I paid $10k for drawings to get through the permitting stage on a brand new home including the site/civil design and that was by far cheaper than others I talked with and I have been very pleased with who I used.

We paid a few thousand for a top architect. They sucked. Choose wisely and know how much you want to spend on your addition, is what I took from it.

So the topic of how much an addition costs has been hashed over plenty of times. But how much does it cost to have someone, an architecht?, design the addition? We are considering purchasing a home that is a bit small for us for now, but expect to be able to afford to add on in 5-10 years. How much will it cost to have someone draw up the designs?
