one year + of looking around and working crappy temp jobs and contract jobs. then, began working here and it took over 2 yrs to get a permanent job here after starting as a contractor

3-4 weeks from first email to offer. Then told them they had to wait 6 weeks for me to start.

Federal government - applied in June, started in November.

I interned while I was in grad school and received a job offer before graduation. So, I guess 0 months? I was very lucky.

I applied for a federal job just to see if I would be considered qualified and ended up getting the job. I applied in September and started the job January.

a month. i dragged it out.

I wasn't looking, an ad popped up on LinkedIn and it was in a city we love and in my field. I applied on a whim, had a phone interview in 24 hours, in person this following week, and an offer the day after. They paid for relo. Within 6 weeks, we'd given notice, out our house up, put a contract on a new house and I started a new job. Looking back I cannot believe we did that. We also have kids.

My H took months to get an offer in our new city.

Then his company did a mass layoff, but he had anew job within 5 weeks.


The last 4 job offers I have received have come within 24 hours of the last in in person interview. For setting up the initial interview to starting the job, I have averaged 6 weeks.

Over 4 months from application. Government.

Federal government attorney position. I submitted my application in April and my first day of work was in November. There was a long lag between application and first interview (April to July). The time between the first interview, second interview, and offer was just a couple of weeks. Then another long lag for HR to finalize the offer and start date.
