OP, are you Asian? Some Asians have a "hard ear wax" gene (no, I'm not even joking). It makes ear wax harder to clean out. That's why some Asian cultures have cleaning rituals wherein someone helps clean another's ear with an implement like PP mentioned:
Usually, a mom will clean out the kids' ears, or a DH will clean for DW. Seems a little gross to Westerners, but it is really effective if you're careful.
Another thing: DH is Asian (which is how I know about all this). He used to get HORRIBLE ear wax buildup because of his genetics. It all went away when he started washing the inside of his ears gently with soap in the shower (just a little on a washcloth and then a quick scrub). Then he twirls a Qtip in there after the shower to get the loosened wax. We seriously went from me having to use a bulb syringe on him once a month to never having to ever. I know it sounds really common sense, but how many people really focus on making sure they scrub their ears in the shower?
