Sign up for Alert Montgomery and get texts and/or emails. I got a text alert at 10:25 am telling me MCPS was closing early.

You won't see a flake. They backed off the big accumulation last night.

Capital weather gang says non-accumulating snow to an inch or two, not 5 inches. The model projecting 3-6 inches has a 10% likelihood. Sadly I don't think we're getting a real snow day.

5 inches? How did I miss that? That would be freakin' awesome!

Actually, they have to make the announcement even earlier than 11:30 - high school busses run at 11:35 if there's an early release due to weather. I work in a HS and we generally hear by 10:45 at the latest if there will be an early release for weather.

They have to announce by 11:30 to get the HS busses on the road. Then your school will typically get out 2.5 hours earlier than usual.

If MoCo schools close early for snow (like tomorrow when 5 inches is predicted), how much notice do parents get? Do they say announce at 11 that they are closing at 1? I'm triyng to figure out if I should just telecommute tomorrow in case they close early rather than trying to break my neck to get home if they decide to close.
